Environmental Audit

Whilst the Environmental Management Plan itself is part of a project's EIA, it needs to include an annual declaration outlining the results of internal audits, corrective measures where necessary and details of how measures within the plan are being carried out. The Government of Mauritania's 2007 Environmental Impact Assessment decree provides details on what should be included as part of the EMP's audit.

An audit is also required as part of an Environmental Management System, as outlined in the Government of Mauritania's Decree applying the Mining Code (2004).
