French-English/English-French
Translation
Our main clients are international companies and
organisations and our speciality is the translation of documents
in the following sectors:
- Development
- Environment (incl. archaeology & sociology)
- Mining & Petroleum
Through our many years experience, we have built
up a glossary of mining and development terminology. Furthermore,
we have a team of francophone and anglophone translators who
work together on each translation project.
Translation and Translation+Checking service
We offer both a translation and a translation
with checking service. The way we normally do our Translation+Checking
service is this: if a document needs to be translated from English
to French, an anglophone translator will first read it and explains
phrases/words that a francophone person might find confusing.
The francophone translator then translates the document. After
this, the anglophone translator (who has a good understanding
of French) compares the translation with the original. Mistakes
are then corrected as the two translators go through the document.
Translation Coaching (Capacity Building)
Some companies and NGOs use francophone translators to translate from French to English, and would like to improve the skills of their staff. Anglo Articles provide a coaching service for these translators, where we look at their previous work, point out errors and show how to re-phrase sentence constructions. In this way we help them to understand the nuances in meaning between different French and English phrases and to broaden their awareness of 'false friends'.
Checking and Correction Service
A cheaper alternative to our translation service
is the Checking and Correction Service, where we look at translation
work done by other translators to ensure that it reads as proper
anglophone English or francophone French. Our service can also
be used to check the quality of different translators' work
or even to check the standard of English/French and number spelling/typing
mistakes in articles and brochures.
